San Antonio wedding venues see surge in bookings in 2022

Love is in the air in San Antonio. People are putting a ring in it this spring and Alamo City wedding venues and businesses are seeing an increase in bookings and appointments. Some of them are already sold out for 2022 and scheduled through 2023, but that doesn’t mean your happily ever after isn’t close at hand.

According to a new survey from The Knot, a wedding planning site, there will be more weddings in the United States in 2022 than any year since 1984. The site estimates that around 2.6 million weddings will take place this year. , an increase in ceremonies following a record number of cancellations, postponements, runaways and numerous virtual nuptials over the past two years.

Choosing the right venue is an important first step in planning a wedding. Couples should consider venue capacity, driving distance, budget and availability. San Antonio is full of scenic spots to create lasting memories for you and your guests.

“Spring is indeed always busy for us here at the McNay. We have seen a huge increase in inquiries over the past six months and are already expecting bookings for 2023,” said Rachel Trevino, communications and marketing manager at McNay.

It’s a stark contrast to the start of the pandemic when bookings came to an abrupt halt. We’re told most couples have postponed their event to 2020, which has become McNay’s “most financially challenging year in terms of wedding rentals.”

Event Rental Coordinator Monica Rangel says it wasn’t until late 2021 that celebrations began to pick up again and couples found themselves scrambling to plan their magical day again. Fast forward to 2022, and the McNay has seen a steady amount of wedding traffic for the usual March-May wedding season.

“At the moment, we think we are in an old (pre-pandemic) normal when it comes to couples contracts and filling the schedule for the busy seasons ahead. Couples feel comfortable in a gathering environment and tend to limit their gatherings to less than 200 attendees.

Couples can still book at the McNay for 2022.

Another popular wedding venue in San Antonio that is seeing an increase in bookings is The Gardens at West Green. The venue specializes in small outdoor garden weddings located in a peaceful and serene part of town with centurion oak trees and natural vegetation, according to the venue’s website.

The venue told MySA that they are fully booked for 2022 and are booking for 2023. There have also been a few inquiries for 2024. West Green Gardens is located at 21650 Milsa Drive near Leon Springs .
