Private wedding venues are back in business after beating the pandemic blues | Kolkata News

KOLKATA: Private wedding venues in Kolkata have finally emerged from the Covid-induced stupor with back-to-back events on the same day and bookings through 2023. The surge in bookings is not just for weddings and other social functions, but also for those re-celebrating weddings and family events abandoned or reduced in the past two years.
Aditya Moitra, Managing Director, PC Chandra Garden off EM Bypass said: “Covid has bled us. It was a Herculean effort even to maintain the property and the premises. Guest restrictions were capped at 50 people and there were several cancellations. In February, when restrictions eased, reservations started to arrive. People who had canceled or postponed events are also booking in addition to the scheduled events. »
Topsia’s Mangalam Banquets Sales Manager Arshed Ahmed said, “During the pandemic restrictions, the situation was very bad due to cancellations and people getting sick. Now it’s the reverse. We have bookings through 2023.” Kakoli Ghosh, Sales Coordinator for Middleton Chambers and Garden Banquets in Park Street, said: “It was a very trying situation. Reservations were canceled and never rescheduled. The continued closure has led to job losses. The situation is much better now. We manage double bookings per day. ”
Anup Kumar Gupta, owner of Emerald Banquets in Newtown, said: “I had to take out loans to run my business. Now reservations are back. Although the client’s budget has decreased, I am happy that we are no longer in the wrong phase. »
