Best London Restaurants for Wedding Venues | Hot Dinners recommends

If you’ve spent the summer attending other people’s nuptials and wanted to start planning your own, let us help. Here is a list of the best places in London if you and your future partner are as serious about the food on the table as your future together.

23-27 Wadeson Street, London, E2 9DR

This ever-popular east London restaurant offers a sit-down dinner option with dishes such as mushroom pie and marinated pineapple carpaccio with crispy coconut. You can also have a groaning buffet table with treats like pulled chicken and aioli with eggplant caponata with golden pickled raisins and basil. Or, you can keep it really simple with Brunch & Fizz which is served family-friendly.

We like… the possibility of adding cockatoo performers to the evening entertainment.

Patriot Square, London E2 9NF

As the name suggests, this was once Bethnal Green Town Hall and as such has many impressive rooms to host both your ceremony and the party that follows. The standard package includes everything from canapes to champagne for the toast, plus use of the turn-of-the-century council chamber for the ceremony itself.

We like… the luxury package includes pick up from the hotel’s Silk Weaver bar for an intimate after-party.

Church Lane, off Petersham Rd, Richmond, Surrey TW10 7AG

If there’s a more romantic place in London for a wedding, we haven’t found it yet. For couples looking for a spot in London that also has a truly rustic feel, the foliage-draped tables in this bucolic part of Richmond nail the record. Although she didn’t get married there herself, Princess Eugenie once called it a dream wedding destination. Choose between the main restaurant or the greenhouses, and sample menus including dishes such as lemon sole fillets with chanterelle mushrooms, brown butter, seaweed and Amalfi lemon. There is also the option of a more central London wedding if you opt for their Covent Garden restaurant.

65 Camberwell Church Street, London SE5 8TR

Aimed directly at “couples whose main objective is for their wedding to be to have exceptional food and wine”, the upstairs room at the Camberwell Arms is regularly transformed with flowers and trestle tables into a charming venue of marriage. Want a stack of cheese instead of the usual tiered wedding cake? This is the place for you.

We like… daytime weddings get use of the bar downstairs for an after-lunch cocktail.

The Polish Hearth Club offers plenty of glamorous photo opportunities, from the ornate, scenic staircase to the upstairs ballroom and outdoor tented terrace for summer weddings. It’s an ideal place if you want to fill your guests’ stomachs with superb dumplings and whipped cream pavlova before pouring a drink on them.

We like… the idea of wedding toasts with vodka instead of champagne.

10 Basinghall Street, London EC2V 5BQ

With the town so quiet on weekends, this branch of Hawksmoor proves to be a perfect wedding venue. As you’d expect, the menu is red meat-focused with platters of steaks to share (although vegetarian options are obviously also available).

We like… the late-night snack option of lobster rolls and grilled cheese sandwiches.

26 St John Street, London EC1M 4AY

Having been to parties at the original St John’s in Smithfield before, we can attest that this is a great venue. They rent out the entire restaurant and bar for a seated meal for up to 120 guests. Or, if you prefer, they also do a more casual canape-based reception for 150. The only problem? It’s currently booked until 2024. But if you’re desperate to serve bone marrow and parsley, one of their amazing eccles pies and cakes to your guests, surely it’s worth the wait?

We like… the fact that the separate bar makes for a perfect dance floor.
