5 of Glasgow’s Best Wedding Venues

Wedding season is right around the corner – and 2022 is shaping up to be a bumper year for people getting married.

Thousands of people across the UK were forced to cancel their weddings in 2020 when the Covid-19 pandemic hit, or plan smaller, more intimate nuptials that would respect restrictions.

While some people have been planning weddings in 2021, some have decided to suspend until the toughest restrictions end.

Now, with wedding season approaching, it seems like a bumper year for people getting married.

A great marriage requires a lot planning – that means cake samples, flower arrangements, music choices, dress fittings, table settings, and at least a few disagreements.

Wedding season is approaching.

Perhaps the first and most important choice you will have to make is location. Here are just five of Glasgow’s best.

House for an art lover

The building was constructed on the grounds of Bellahouston Park, with work beginning in 1989 using plans drawn up by the city’s most famous architect and designer, Charles Rennie Mackintosh.

It regularly wins awards and ranks among the best wedding venues – and it’s easy to see why. The place is quite unique. There is a range of stunning rooms to choose from for the special occasion, each with that grand Mackintosh flair.

Òran Mor

The former parish church converted into a venue for entertainment and art in the heart of the West End is one of Glasgow’s iconic buildings. It’s also in one of the best locations in town – just across the crossroads are the Botanic Gardens, while Great Western Road and Byres Road meet here.

Original features and stained glass give the place a classic feel, but with a modern twist. The auditorium is a huge space that can accommodate hundreds of guests to see your big moment.

WEST on green

Another iconic Glasgow landmark, Templeton on the Green is a former carpet factory, built on the edge of Glasgow Green, which has been converted into an art, office and entertainment space. One of the current occupants is the West Brewery, which in addition to brewing beer also hosts weddings.

The venue can accommodate all celebrations, from weddings to evening receptions, all in a single building. There are two room choices: the Hop Room is perfect for more intimate events, less than 60 people, while the Courtyard can accommodate up to 200 guests for the evening reception.

A Devonshire garden

The stunning One Devonshire Gardens, just off Great Western Road, has become one of Glasgow’s most popular wedding venues, winning awards for its events.

You can rent the entire townhouse for the wedding, offering over a dozen bedrooms for guests and the happy couple, a hidden terraced back garden, a private bar and lounge, plus the hall principal for the ceremony itself. The hotel is ideal for weddings with a small number – a maximum of 70 guests for the ceremony.

Corinthian club

The former Ingram Street Bank and Law Court is now one of Glasgow’s top wedding venues. The building was renovated in 2010 and now has a space dedicated to weddings. The Flying Scotsman is a “show stopper” that seats up to 190 people and includes exclusive use of the mezzanine, vaulted auditorium and private dining rooms. Smaller rooms are available for those with limited numbers.
