10 Beautiful Wedding Venues in the Catskills

The Catskills, a mountainous region in southeastern New York State, is an ideal wedding destination. The area is full of natural beauty; you can get married along a stream or in front of a waterfall, and the mountain ranges offer incredible vistas. Due to its proximity to New York (about a two hour drive), there are some amazing chefs and hoteliers who also call the area home. Whether you’re looking for a hip hotel or a grand estate, the Catskills has something for you.

To help you plan your perfect Catskills wedding, we turned to Bethany Pickard, owner and lead planner of Modern Kicks, an area event planning company. Weddings in the Catskills are all “beautifully different,” she says. However, there are some general rules. To get married here, she recommends having a budget of at least $800 to $1,000 per guest. While there are options for weddings year-round, she also suggests late May to early October as the ideal time to get married in this region.

One of the greatest parts of the Catskills is the sheer number of beautiful and diverse sights. “Catskills hotel sites are anything but ballrooms,” says Pickard. “Some need a tent, while others have a barn or other raw space that can be transformed for the wedding day. Additionally, we have a large number of stand-alone barn spaces, estates and of reimagined historic properties to choose from.”
