Harriet & Russell's Indie Teepee Wedding
Harriet & Russell's teepee wedding took place right outside their cottage in North Yorkshire and was simply bursting with stylish indie elements. From the bride's boho 'Indie Brides' frock, to the homemade elderflower champagne, Harriet and Russell ensured that their day was a true reflection of them as a couple; relaxed, fun and effortlessly cool.
Having met whilst traveling in Africa 10 years ago, Russell (rather romatically) followed Harriet to London to be near to each other whilst she studied. He popped the question on a romantic boat trip in Greece (though Harriet thought he was joking at first!) and then planned their wedding to be in their new home village of Cropton in North Yorkshire.
"We'd just bought our first house in Cropton, North Yorkshire and really wanted to get married in the village. We got married in the small village church and had the party in a Papakata tepee in our field next to our bungalow!"
With the help of Papakata tents and some very talented wedding suppliers, Harriet and Russell sure managed to injected some serious style into the field next to their North Yorkshire bungalow! Here at WeddingPlanner.co.uk we're big fans of the way Papakata teepees sit so naturally in a rural setting, but allow for so much creativity within. Harriet and Russell's choices of interior decor reflected their vibe for the day.
"We wanted the wedding to feel very chilled out and have a relaxed vibe, mainly to calm us down on the day! I loved the flowers on the plates which correlated to our table plans supplied by Flour & Flower in Pickering. I also loved the suspended floral hoop above the tables that they made for us, it definitely added the wow factor and as the evening came it looked so magic as the candles twinkled."
In terms of flowers (all by Flour & Flower) the couple opted for a very cool paired back colour palette. Lush greens (ferns, eucalyptus) and soft pinks (roses) and whites (hydrangea, gypsophila). They also had fresh fern bunting hanging in the teepee which added a little something different.
Unsurprisingly, Harriet and Russell opted for laid back, stylish wedding clothes which matched their theme perfectly. Harriet wore a simple, boho type dress made by Indie Brides along with a simple gypsophila headpiece made by Flour & Flower. Russell wore a blue velvet jacket, his shirt and tailored trousers were from Cos and his blow out were his boots from Russell and Bromley.
The cake was left undressed but no less stylish, and an informal hog roast suited the occasion perfectly.
"Flour & Flower made our cake which was delicious and fitted so perfectly with our woodland wedding theme. It had fresh roses and edible flowers all over it and tasted divine!
We also had a hog roast by Trotters in Potter Brompton and Roots and fruits made all the salads. We made our own elderflower champagne and sourced our alcohol from our local pub, Cropton brewery and also Tree Top Press in Hackness."
Suitably lubricated by their homemade champers and local beers, the guests danced the night away to the tunes of The New York Brass Band.
The whole day was snapped by the super talented Neil Jackson, who undoubtedly captured the vibe perfectly.
"We wanted documentary style, informal photographs that weren't awkward or posed and he delivered on this. We're really happy with them."
